PANTANO CHRISTIAN CHURCH MAKES SUBSTANTIAL DONATION TO HELP TUCSON HOMELESS WORK PROGRAM
TUCSON - Pantano Christian Church is making a substantial donation to the Tucson Homeless Work Program (HWP).
“We applaud Pantano Christian Church, thanks to its generous donations from their members, raised $95,888 during the Christmas Eve Services that were held at the Tucson Convention Center,” Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres said.
Council Member Fimbres went on to say, “This is a great shot in the arm, for this valuable program that helps those in need as well as our community which will ensure that the Tucson Homeless Work Program stays operating at five days a week.”
Pantano Christian selects a cause or effort to help each year during their Christmas Eve Services. They give the entire offering away and for 2021, it was the Tucson Homeless Program.
“Pantano wanted to serve our own community, so I asked Council Member Fimbres for a suggestion of a worthy project. He suggested the Tucson Homeless Work Program and our congregation rallied to support this outstanding service to our homeless population,” said Pastor Glen Elliott of Pantano Christian Church.
Pantano Christian Church is a non-denominational church that embraces a wide diversity of people. Pantano is focused to engage the community and be a catalyst to bring God’s love to all people through practical service.
“Pantano is a community of people who desire to make an impact in our city and around the world. Our partnership with Tucson Homeless Work Program is a way to make significant change with people in our city, our neighbors. Keep up the life changing work HWP,” Pastor Roger Blumenthal of Pantano Christian Church said.
The Tucson Homeless Work Program has been in existence since December 6, 2016. More than 900 people have participated in the program, with more than 35% entering and gaining permanent housing and more than 35% entering employment services.
More than 285,000 pounds of trash and waste cleared, with more than 300 sites and 200 miles of roadway cleaned. The Tucson Homeless Work Program is a partnership between government, business, faith-based organizations, service providers and the homeless/houseless community.
The Tucson Homeless Work Program was created by Ward 5 Council Member Richard Fimbres.
“It is not a government program, but a coalition coming together to help those in need and our community,” said Council Member Fimbres. “When I brought it forward, it has become a successful program, now expanded to help more in need and our community.”
The Tucson Homeless Work Program is a partnership between government, business, faith-based organizations, service providers and the homeless/houseless community. The Tucson Homeless Work Program has been recognized by national organizations for its work.
