Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season and end of the year. I am thankful for the progress and accomplishments our department has made this past year, yet we know there is a lot of work still to be done in 2022 and beyond. Looking forward to keeping our momentum into the new year!
Thank you to Housing and Community Development (HCD) and City staff and our community partners for continuing to serve our residents and provide essential services, while we are still dealing with the pandemic and doing the work to keep the most vulnerable members of our community housed.

In August 2021, Mayor and Council directed Housing and Community Development (HCD) to return with a comprehensive affordable housing strategy in 90 days. In that time, HCD put together a draft Housing Affordability Strategy for Tucson (HAST) plan document and held two virtual and one in person meeting with developers and stakeholders, as well as feedback from the Commission on Equitable Housing and Development.
From the comments and questions received, HCD worked to finalize the draft HAST plan, website, and put together a presentation for Mayor and Council Study Session on Tuesday, November 23. Next Step: HCD will return to Mayor and Council with a final draft HAST plan for adoption on Tuesday, December 21.
