TUCSON HOLIDAY ICE OUTDOOR SKATING RINK NOW OPEN - Rio Nuevo and the City of Tucson invite you to skate on Tucson's outdoor ice rink over the holidays, now through Jan. 9. Tucson Holiday Ice is located at 260 S. Church Ave., in front of the Tucson Convention Center Ticket Office. Tickets can be purchased online and at the TCC Ticket Office. Each session starts at a designated time and lasts for 90 minutes. Admission for adults is $17 per session, children under 12 are $12, and skate assists can be rented on-site for $5. Skates are included with the ticket price and begin at size 8 for children and run as large as men's size 15. Socks are required, and gloves and a mask are highly recommended. CITY HOLIDAY CLOSURES THIS WEEK - All City of Tucson offices, except for emergency services, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 25, in observance of Thanksgiving Day, and most offices will reopen on Friday, Nov. 26. Residential and commercial customers with trash and recycling collections normally scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays will have their service delayed by one day. The Los Reales Landfill and the Household Hazardous Waste facility will be closed on Thursday. Sun Tran and Sun Van routes will provide service once an hour (follow the link below). The Sun Link streetcar will run from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun Shuttle and Oro Valley Sun Shuttle Dial-A-Ride will not be in operation, with the exception of ADA Dial-a-Ride for paratransit eligible riders, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and there will be no Sun Express service on Thursday and Friday. HOLIDAY ARTS AND CRAFTS FAIR TO BE HELD AT GENE C. REID PARK THIS WEEKEND - The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department will host its annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair, Nov. 27-28, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., in Reid Park, 920 S. Concert Place. During the Thanksgiving weekend event, get a jump on your holiday shopping. This free fair is expected to attract more than 140 vendors from all over the Southwest, ranging from artists, crafters, photographers, painters, potters, jewelers, and more. Stroll through the park, and visit artists with their colorful fused glass and mosaics, wind chimes, walking sticks, painted gourds, and teacup bird feeders. Discover an artist's original work in painting, photography, clay, wood, and fiber. Complement your holiday shopping list with western wall art or chimes, handcrafted pens, stuffed toys, pet clothes, accessories, gourmet treats, and so much more. CONNECTING FOR SUCCESS WEBINAR FOR SMALL BUSINESSES NEXT WEEK - The City of Tucson's Office of Economic Initiatives (ConnectTucson) webinar series, "Connecting for Success," is held monthly, featuring a guest speaker, presentation, and Q&A. The next webinar will be Monday, Nov. 29, from 3-4 p.m. This month, hear about the Economic and Workforce Development Grants Program, including highlights from last year, information on the next application cycle, and updates from two of the grant recipients (Startup Tucson and the Community Investment Corporation). COVID-19 UPDATE AND VACCINATION INFORMATION - Today's, Nov. 22, COVID-19 dashboard from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) adds 3,249 new cases and 2 deaths. ADHS has an interactive map with vaccine distribution sites (link below), and there are multiple locations throughout Tucson. So far, more than 4.6 million people in Arizona, or 64.3% of the population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 4.1 million people are fully vaccinated with both doses. Kids ages 5-11 can now be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine, and booster doses are available for several segments of the population.
