CITY OF TUCSON 2021 GENERAL ELECTION UPDATE - Approximately 16,500 ballots remain to be counted in the City of Tucson's 2021 general election. The remaining ballots came in through the City's seven voting locations, the Pima County Recorder's Office drop box, and mail delivery prior to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Final tabulation of these ballots is planned for Monday morning, Nov. 8, to ensure adequate time for processing, including complying with State of Arizona law to cure any problem affidavits and signature verification by the Pima County Recorder's Office. ALL SOULS PROCESSION THIS WEEKEND - After a shortened, online event last year, the annual All Souls Procession Weekend returns for its 32nd year tomorrow, Nov. 5, through Sunday, Nov. 7. Organized by Many Mouths One Stomach, the weekend of public events, openings, and opportunities is meant to deepen connections with the community and lost loved ones. The actual procession will begin Sunday at 6 p.m. on Grande Avenue, just south of Speedway Boulevard, ending at the MSA Annex, 267 S. Avenida Del Convento. Masks and COVID-19 vaccinations are encouraged. Meanwhile, participants can enjoy free public transportation options to and from the event. Sun Tran buses will provide a direct route from the Ronstadt Transit Center to Grande Avenue and Speedway Boulevard, near the procession starting line. This service is available from 3-7 p.m. After the procession, riders are encouraged to use the Sun Link streetcar to travel from the Mercado District to Ronstadt. Bus riders should note that Sun Tran bus services throughout the city generally end by 8 p.m. The streetcar will be in service until 10:30 p.m. There are also several road closures planned, as outlined in the news release linked below. HOLIDAY ARTS AND CRAFTS FAIR TO BE HELD AT GENE C. REID PARK LATER THIS MONTH - The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation department will host its annual Holiday Arts and Crafts Fair, Nov. 27-28, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., in Reid Park, 920 S. Concert Place. During the Thanksgiving weekend event, get a jump on your holiday shopping. This free fair is expected to attract more than 140 vendors from all over the Southwest, ranging from artists, crafters, photographers, painters, potters, jewelers, and more. Stroll through the park, and visit artists with their colorful fused glass and mosaics, wind chimes, walking sticks, painted gourds, and teacup bird feeders. Discover an artist's original work in painting, photography, clay, wood, and fiber. Complement your holiday shopping list with western wall art or chimes, handcrafted pens, stuffed toys, pet clothes, accessories, gourmet treats, and so much more. COVID-19 UPDATE AND VACCINATION INFORMATION - Today's, Nov. 4, COVID-19 dashboard from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) adds 3,552 new cases and 17 deaths. ADHS has an interactive map with vaccine distribution sites (link below), and there are multiple locations throughout Tucson. So far, more than 4.4 million people in Arizona, or 61.3.% of the population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 3.98 million people are fully vaccinated with both doses. Kids ages 5-11 can now be vaccinated against COVID-19 with the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine, and booster doses are available for several segments of the population.
