TUCSON WATER STATEMENT REGARDING CONTINUITY OF OPERATIONS
Recently, current or past employees of the City of Tucson have made comments to the media suggesting that certain reductions in staffing could put operations of the water system at risk. We take these allegations very seriously, and wish to reassure the public:
Tucson Water is prepared to continue delivering safe, secure, clean water without interruption. The utility has plans, procedures, practices, and redundancies in place to ensure continuity of operations in the face of reduced staffing and other emergency scenarios. Tucson Water conducts regular emergency preparedness trainings with stakeholders including the City’s Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Homeland Security, local law enforcement, and public and private utilities. Backup supplies, power, staffing, and technology are critical components of Tucson Water’s infrastructure and continuity of operations plan.
