Ready, Set, Rec! Mobile Recreation Program is Back for Fall
Ready, Set, Rec! is coming to a park near you. Six vans packed full of fun for all ages and abilities. Activities are FREE and open to all ages and abilities. Each van has standard play equipment, like giant yard games, board games, cards, walking sticks, and hula hoops. Other modules that you could see include, but are not limited to, arts and crafts, STEM activities, sports, container gardening, fishing, bubbles, and more.
Each van will visit at multiple parks each week. Masks and physical distancing are required. Find out where the vans are this week by visiting the website or following @Readysetrec on Facebook or Instagram.

Join the Team!
We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic workers for non-permanent positions. The Leisure Class area is looking for an instructor to teach Little Movers and Shakers motor development classes at Randolph Recreation Center. This position must be able to lead parents/adults and children in participant involved playgroups focusing on skills in motor development. Apply online by Sunday, Sept. 5.
The department is also looking for recreation workers and senior recreation workers to work in the Ready, Set, Rec! mobile recreation program which includes loading/unloading and transporting equipment in an assigned cargo van; setting-up and leading activities for site participants; promoting and providing participants with information for upcoming events; and does related work as required. Grand Opening of Anza Park Dog Park
City of Tucson Council Members Lane Santa Cruz (Ward 1), Karin Uhlich (Ward 3), and Steve Kozachik (Ward 6), will host a ribbon-cutting celebration of the completion of a new dog park at Anza Park, 1000 N. Stone Ave. on Friday, Sept. 10, at 11 a.m. This project marks the City’s eighth dog park. The 1-acre, off-leash area includes two separate fenced-in areas, one for larger dogs (over 30 lbs.) and one for smaller dogs (under 30 lbs.). Other amenities include tables and benches, ADA-accessible walkways and gates, three drinking fountains, trash cans, signage, and waste dispensers. Join the celebration and bring your furry friends. Afterschool program will resume for the 2021-22 school year. Register on EZEEreg.com or by calling Registration Services at (520) 791-4877. The Discount Program is available to city residents who qualify. Any discounts must be applied prior to registration.

On Nov. 6, 2018, the City of Tucson voters approved Proposition 407, a $225 million bond package for capital improvements via General Obligation bonds. The bond funds are dedicated to improving City park amenities (playgrounds, sports fields, pools, splash pads, and recreation center) as well as connections (pedestrian pathways, bicycle pathways, pedestrian and bicycle safety). New Splash Pad
The new splash pad at Morris K. Udall Park, 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road, is nearly complete and will be open for use later this month. Keep an eye out for an official opening date!

New Ramada Under Construction at Himmel Park
A new ramada is under construction at Himmel Park, 1000 N. Tucson Blvd., and should be ready to open this month and ready to accept reservations in October.

Cherry Avenue Park Projects Under Construction
Renovations are underway at Cherry Avenue Park. The current projects include: new playground, new dog park with two areas, new decomposed granite walking path, more trees and irrigation upgrades, and repainted shade structure and perimeter fence.
