BROADWAY – EUCLID AVENUE TO COUNTRY CLUB ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
CAMPBELL AVENUE CLOSURE SOUTH SIDE OF BROADWAY INTERSECTION BASE PAVING
The removal of existing asphalt, subgrade preparation and base paving work will take place at the Broadway and Campbell Avenue intersection from 6 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, until about 5 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2021. During this work, the south side of the Broadway and Campbell Avenue intersection will be closed to travel. This work was scheduled to take place Friday, August 13, through Monday August 16, but was postponed due to weather.
Eastbound and westbound travel on Broadway will not be affected by this work. Northbound travel on Campbell Avenue will be prohibited through the intersection. The traveling public is asked to detour east on 13th Street and north on Norris Avenue to access Broadway. Southbound travel on Campbell Avenue approaching Broadway will not be allowed to travel through the intersection but will be allowed to turn eastbound or westbound onto Broadway. Electronic message boards are in place to advise the traveling public of this closure. This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.
The Broadway Improvement Project from Euclid Avenue to Country Club Road began in mid-January. The project includes widening the roadway to six travel lanes, landscaped medians, buffered bike lanes, sidewalks, multiple HAWK pedestrian crossings, and bus pullouts. A new underground storm drain system has been constructed throughout the project limits. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete in December 2021.
The Regional Transportation Authority, a political subdivision of the state and independently governed, has invested more than $1.2 billion in transportation projects and services to improve mobility, safety, economic vitality and quality of life in the region. The RTA collects a half-cent excise (sales) tax from its special taxing district within Pima County to fund its 20-year regional transportation plan. The plan and tax were approved by voters in May 2006. The Broadway Improvement Project from Euclid Avenue to Country Club Road is part of the RTA plan and is managed by the City of Tucson. La remoción del asfalto existente, la preparación de la subrasante y el trabajo de pavimentación de la base se llevará a cabo en la intersección de Broadway y Campbell Avenida a partir de las 6 p.m. el viernes 27 de agosto de 2021, hasta aproximadamente las 5 a.m. del lunes 30 de agosto de 2021. Durante este trabajo, el lado sur de la intersección de Broadway y Campbell Avenida estará cerrado al tránsito. Este trabajo estaba originalmente programado para realizarse del viernes 13 de agosto al lunes 16 de agosto, pero se pospuso debido al clima.
Los viajes en dirección este y oeste en Broadway no se verán afectados por este trabajo. Se prohibirá viajar en dirección norte por Campbell Avenida a través de la intersección. Se pide al público viajero que se desvíe hacia el este por la calle 13 y hacia el norte por Norris Avenida para acceder a Broadway. Los viajes en dirección sur por Campbell Avenida que se acercan a Broadway no podrán atravesar la intersección, pero podrán girar en dirección este o oeste en Broadway. El Proyecto de Mejora de Broadway desde Euclid Avenida hasta Country Club Road comenzó a mediados de enero. El proyecto incluye la ampliación de la carretera a seis carriles de circulación, medianas ajardinadas, carriles para bicicletas con amortiguación, aceras, múltiples cruces de peatones HAWK y salidas de autobuses. Se ha construido un nuevo sistema de drenaje pluvial subterráneo a lo largo de los límites del proyecto. El proyecto está programado para completarse sustancialmente en diciembre de 2021.
La Autoridad de Transporte Regional, una subdivisión política del estado y gobernada de manera independiente, ha invertido más de $ 1.2 mil millones en proyectos y servicios de transporte para mejorar la movilidad, la seguridad, la vitalidad económica y la calidad de vida en la región. La RTA recauda un impuesto especial (sobre las ventas) de medio centavo de su distrito fiscal especial dentro del condado de Pima para financiar su plan de transporte regional de 20 años. El plan y el impuesto fueron aprobados por los votantes en mayo de 2006.
