COVID-19 CASES CONTINUE SHARP RISE IN ARIZONA AMONG UNVACCINATED PEOPLE - Today’s, Aug. 19, COVID-19 dashboard from the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) adds 3,546 new cases and 4 deaths. The department has an interactive map with vaccine distribution sites (link below), and there are multiple locations throughout Tucson. So far, more than 3.92 million people in Arizona, or 54.6% of the population, have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and more than 3.44 million people are fully vaccinated with both doses. CELEBRATE NANDI THE ELEPHANT’S 7TH BIRTHDAY AT REID PARK ZOO - Reid Park Zoo’s beloved African elephant Nandi is turning 7 years old, and the community is invited to help celebrate her life, as well as the lives of elephants everywhere. Join in singing “Happy Birthday,” watch Nandi engage in special enrichment treats, and explore how the elephant keepers care for Nandi and Reid Park Zoo’s herd of elephants, keeping them happy and healthy. The party is this Saturday, Aug. 21, 8 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Nandi was born on Aug. 20, 2014, with the Zoo breaking attendance records that year. FIND A JOB AT TUCSON CONVENTION CENTER JOB FAIR - The Tucson Convention Center (TCC) Job Fair is an opportunity to meet the team, interview, learn more about the TCC, and apply for open positions. Applicants are encouraged to apply online prior to the job fair, but they will be able to apply in person at the event, which will be held Aug. 26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., in the Turquoise Ballroom.
