AS DROUGHT LOOMS, TUCSON IS PREPARED
Monday, August 16 - As the first ever declaration of a Tier 1 Shortage on the Colorado River is made today, one Southwest community is prepared.
Tucson Water, Arizona's second largest water utility serving some 750,000 people, has been preparing for this moment--and the ones that may follow, including deeper levels of shortage--for over twenty years. Tucsonans are among the most water-efficient citizens in the country.
With diversified water supplies, rising local aquifer levels, and a community that values and supports sustainability, Tucson has become one of the most water secure and resilient cities in the western U.S.
In light of the national spotlight as Tier 1 Shortage is declared, Tucson Water invites members of the media to learn about the city's water success story and optimism for the future.
