ONE-STOP CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT IN TUCSON NOW OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - The newly renovated Tucson Development Center is now open. Located on the first floor of the Public Works Building, 201 N. Stone Ave., the center is staffed by multiple City departments to serve the development industry and property owners that need information about their construction projects. Planning and Development Services, Tucson Water, and the Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility are available to assist with building permit applications Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Tucson Fire Department is available Wednesdays, 8 a.m.-noon. Staff members are not conducting over-the-counter plan review, but they are available to answer questions and help with their online applications. All applications must be submitted electronically. The public cashier is also open to take various payments to the City of Tucson. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed noon-1 p.m. for lunch). Tucson Development Center
LEARN ABOUT DEVELOPMENT IMPACT FEES - When Tucson grows through new development, our community grows. This can come with many benefits, such as local amenities, jobs, and improved quality of life for our community. To ensure that the City can provide adequate services for this growth, it is important that we grow the necessary facilities and services for development proportionately. The City funds its growth of services through the collection of Development Impact Fees. Those impact fees cover the proportionate cost of necessary facilities and services for the related new development. REGISTER FOR THE UPCOMING MAP TALK ON HOUSING - Join Tucson housing market experts on Thursday, June 24, from noon-1:30 p.m., for a panel discussion on current housing growth, gaps, and vulnerability in the local market. This virtual event is organized by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and the MAP Dashboard. The Housing Market Study was created to help inform the development of a comprehensive affordable housing strategy to help meet the current and future demand. The study was created in partnership with the University of Arizona Eller College of Management’s Economic and Business Research Center, Pima County, and the City of Tucson. WEEKLY TRACK AND FIELD EVENTS AND ROAD RACES CONTINUE THIS WEEK - Tucson Parks and Recreation is hosting its annual summer track and field and road races throughout June and July. Track and field events are held Tuesdays, through July 20, at Palo Verde High School, 1302 S. Avenida Vega. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m., with events starting at 7 p.m. Road races will take place every Thursday, June 10-July 22, at various locations. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m., with events starting at 6 p.m. Ribbons will be given to the top finishers at each track and field meet and each run. For more information, call (520) 791-4870.
