TCC EVENT ENGINE RESTARTS - After a year with no public events due to COVID-19, the Tucson Convention Center's (TCC) event engine is revving up again. The Tucson Roadrunners recently welcomed back a limited number of fans for its hockey games, and the new DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel opened last month at the TCC complex. Construction work has been completed (or is underway) on many facets of the TCC expansion/improvement project, as part of Rio Nuevo's $65 million master plan for the complex. That includes two parking garages, interior renovations, a 25,000-square-foot meeting room addition adjacent to the existing Exhibit Halls, renovations to the Tucson Music Hall and Leo Rich Theater, a landscape and accessibility update for the entire site, and restoration of the TCC's historic landscape, plazas, and fountains. Managed by ASM Global, the world’s leading venue management and services company, the TCC also has begun deploying VenueShield, its comprehensive and industry-leading reopening program.
