CITYWIDE CURFEW BEGINS FRIDAY AT 10 P.M. - The Mayor and Tucson City Council last night, Dec. 1, approved a mandatory curfew, effective Friday, Dec. 4, at 10 p.m. The curfew will be in effect nightly, from 10 p.m.-5 a.m., until Dec. 23. There are a number of exemptions, including essential workers and essential activities, people traveling to and from work, those attending religious services, commercial trucking and delivery services, homeless individuals, and more. The curfew does not require businesses to close at 10 p.m., but it does restrict non-essential travel. While ignoring the curfew is a civil infraction, with a maximum fine of $300, enforcement will begin first with education, and a diversion program will be available for violators after that. Mayor Romero is also urging Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey to pass a statewide curfew and mask mandate. The total number of cases includes people who have recovered. Of that number, 41,313 cases are in Pima County (up 510 from yesterday). BLANKET AND COAT DONATION DRIVE UNDERWAY - The City of Tucson's Housing and Community Development department is teaming up with the Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness (TPCH) in December to host a donation drive for coats and blankets that are clean, gently used, or new. The organizations have a goal of collecting 5,000 winter coats and blankets for people experiencing homelessness in the Tucson area. Each year, the TPCH receives approximately 10,000 free emergency blankets from the U.S. Department of Defense for distribution to people sleeping outside in the Tucson area. The federal program has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently awaiting funding from Congress. All donations will be distributed in Tucson and surrounding communities to help local residents stay safe and warm this winter. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations: Primavera Foundation (811 S. Sixth Ave.) – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Salvation Army Hospitality House (1002 N. Main Ave.) – daily, 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Naughton’s Air Conditioning, Cooling, and Plumbing (6062 E.
