ARIZONA ELECTION RESULTS - While the presidential election results still aren't final across the nation, there are many other federal, state, and Pima County races that were unofficially decided last night, Nov. 3, in Arizona. The Associated Press (AP) projects Democrat Mark Kelly defeated appointed incumbent Republican Martha McSally in Arizona's special election for the U.S. Senate seat to replace the late Senator John McCain. COVID-19 WEDNESDAY UPDATE - As of today, Nov. 4, Arizona now has 250,633 positive coronavirus cases (up 814 from yesterday). The total number of cases includes people who have recovered. Of that number, 29,291 cases are in Pima County (up 150 from yesterday). There have been 6,059 COVID-19 deaths in Arizona (39 reported today), and 647 of those occurred in Pima County (1 reported today). Meanwhile, the City of Tucson maintains an up-to-date COVID-19 website (link below) that includes information for businesses, residents, and more. The site is updated as information evolves. NEW TRANSIT SCHEDULES BEGIN THIS WEEKEND - Service changes will occur for multiple Sun Tran, Sun Express, and Sun Shuttle routes, effective Sunday, Nov. 8. Passengers can find specific schedule and route information online or with Sun Tran’s updated Route Schedule booklets, available on vehicles and at transit centers. Updates to transit service occur throughout the year as an ongoing effort to meet the needs of the community and to keep the system as convenient, accessible, and efficient as possible. AMERICA RECYCLES COLLECTION EVENT NEXT WEEK - The City of Tucson's Environmental and General Services Department (EGSD) is teaming up with Tucson Clean & Beautiful to host a collection event that will kick off America Recycles Week. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot at 4004 S. Park Ave. At the free event, crews will be collecting electronic waste, documents for shredding, and textiles. This will be a contactless, drive-thru event, and masks are required. People dropping off items for recycling/shredding will be asked to stay in their vehicle, and a volunteer will grab the items out of the back. For more information, follow the links below.
