NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS - PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR PHISHING EMAILS

In the last few days, Feldman's Neighborhood Association has reported receiving phishing emails. The emails received are set up to look as if they are being sent by a neighbor and are directed to a real Neighborhood Association address. However, rather than the neighbor's email address, the following email address is used huntrey03@gmail.com. (Note: Sometimes the emails are sent via gmail and sometimes via yahoo.) In the case of the sample phishing email provided to Neighborhood Resources, the Subject line read "Urgent" and the body of the email said, "Holly, Are you available at the moment?"

As we were preparing this Neighborhood Nugget, Feldman's shared another phishing email with us in which the sender's name was a known neighbor, but the email address showing did not belong to the neighbor, so stay alert.

Feldman's has shared the phishing emails received with the Tucson Police Department, but asked if Neighborhood Resources could remind other Neighborhood Associations to be on the lookout for such emails. Neighborhood Resources also shared these email with the City's IT Department, which confirmed that they were phishing attempts.

Neighborhood Resources and the IT Department want to THANK Feldman's for alerting the City to these attempts and to thank all Neighborhood Associations for remaining vigilant.
