REDISTRICTING ADVISORY COMMITTEE SEEKING PUBLIC INPUT
Every four years, the boundaries of the six wards of the City are reviewed to determine whether adjustments are necessary to equalize the population in each ward. This is the Redistricting process. The Mayor and Council have established a citizens’ Redistricting Advisory Committee to assist with this effort.
The Redistricting Advisory Committee will be holding a remote online public hearing, as permitted under Arizona law, to gather the community’s input on the proposed redistricting options at 5 p.m., Monday, Oct.12. There will be no in-person attendance by members of the public permitted.
The preliminary redistricting proposals are available for review online at www.tucsonaz.gov/clerks/redistricting-advisory-committee-public-hearing and will be presented during the hearing.
NOTE: Any approved ward redistricting will not take effect until after the November 3, 2020 election.
Members of the public will have two options to provide comment to the Committee for the public hearing:
-
Written comments may be submitted by email to cityclerk@tucsonaz.gov. The email should include the individual’s name and City of Tucson address. Comments will be limited to no more than 500 words.
- Individuals wishing to speak during the public hearing (subject to technological availability) must submit a written request to cityclerk@tucsonaz.gov. The email should include your name, your City of Tucson address, and the phone number you will use for the teleconference.
