DOWNTOWN LINKS TRAFFIC ALERT
Downtown Links Constructors (DLC), under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility have begun work on the Downtown Links project.
Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians should anticipate the following upcoming work:
Beginning at 3 a.m. Monday, September 28, Seventh Street will be closed between Sixth Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks. The closure will allow the contractor to begin preparation for new sewer line installation followed by the construction of the new drainage infrastructure. This is an extended closure and will be in place throughout most of the project.
- Vehicular crossings at the Seventh Street/UPRR at-grade crossing will no longer be permitted. This is a permanent closure (includes all directions of travel).
- Pedestrians and bicyclists will not be permitted along this portion of Seventh Street until construction is complete.
- Seventh Street between Toole Avenue and the UPRR will be closed to through travel. This is a permanent change.
- Ferro Avenue will be closed at its intersection with Seventh Street.
- Parking along Ferro Avenue will not be permitted between Sixth and Seventh streets.
The contractor will continue with the nightly soil export operation from the vacant lot north of Broadway, adjacent to the Aviation Bikeway and West of Iron Horse Park. The soil export operation is expected to continue through mid-October 2020.
- Work will take place Sundays through Thursdays from about 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
- Multiple trucks will cycle in and out of the area. There will be lights, heavy equipment with backup alarms and large water trucks to help with dust control.
- The export haul route is west on Broadway, Congress Street to the Interstate 10 eastbound frontage road, west on Starr Pass Boulevard to the Tumamoc Landfill on the north side of Starr Pass Boulevard west of La Cholla Boulevard.
- Trucks will reenter the work zone from Sixth Avenue near the Sun Link Streetcar Maintenance and Storage Facility.
- A street sweeper will make trips along the haul route to ensure the roads are cleared of dirt that may get on the roadways
The contractor will continue work for new drainage infrastructure in the vacant lot north of Sixth Street between Stone Avenue and Echols Avenue.
- Motorist, bicyclist and pedestrians traveling along Sixth Street and/or Stone Avenue in this area should watch for equipment entering and exiting the work site.
The contractor has also begun work to clear plant material for the future roadway alignment, remove existing fences, walls, and asphalt concrete in various areas throughout the project limits.
The traveling public will see large equipment and work crews throughout the project limits. There will also be scheduled road closures, both temporary and permanent, within the project.
The 30-month construction project is scheduled for completion in early 2023.
The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Downtown Links Constructors (DLC), bajo contrato con el Departamento de Transporte y Movilidad de la Ciudad de Tucson han comenzado a trabajar en el proyecto Downtown Links.
Los automovilistas, ciclistas y peatones deben anticiparse al siguiente trabajo:
A partir de las 3 a.m. del lunes 28 de septiembre, la Calle Siete estará cerrada entre la Avenida Sies y las vías del Ferrocarril Union Pacific (UPRR). El cierre permitirá al contratista comenzar la preparación para la instalación de una nueva línea de alcantarillado, seguida de la construcción de la nueva infraestructura de drenaje. Se trata de un cierre prolongado y estará en funcionamiento durante la mayor parte del proyecto.
- Ya no se permitirán los pasos de vehículos en la Calle Siete/UPRR a nivel. Este es un cierre permanente (incluye todas las direcciones de viaje).
- No se permitirán peatones ni ciclistas en esta parte de la Calle Siete hasta que se termine la construcción.
- La Calle Siete entre la Avenida Toole y la UPRR estará cerrada a los viajeros de tránsito. Este es un cambio permanente.
- La Avenida Ferro se cerrará en la intersección con la Calle Siete.
- No se permitirá el estacionamiento en la Avenida Ferro entre la Calle Seis y la Calle Siete.
El contratista continuará con la operación nocturna de exportación de tierra desde el lote vacante al norte de la Broadway Bulevar, adyacente a la Aviation Autopista y al oeste del Parque Iron Horse. Se espera que la operación de exportación de tierra continúe hasta mediados de octubre de 2020.
- El trabajo se llevará a cabo de domingo a jueves de 8 p.m. a 5 a.m. cada noche.
- Múltiples camiones entrarán y saldrán de la zona. Habrá luces, equipo pesado con alarmas de respaldo y grandes camiones de agua para ayudar a controlar el polvo.
- La ruta de transporte de las exportaciones se encuentra al oeste en la Broadway Bulevar, en la Calle Congress hasta el Interestatal 10 en dirección este, al oeste en el Starr Pass Bulevar hasta el vertedero de Tumamoc en el lado norte del Starr Pass Bulevar al oeste de La Cholla Bulevar.
- Los camiones volverán a entrar en la zona de trabajo desde la Avenida Seis cerca de la Instalación de Mantenimiento y Almacenamiento de Tranvías Sun Link.
- Un barredor de calles hará viajes a lo largo de la ruta de transporte para asegurarse de que las calles estén limpias de la tierra que pueda quedar en las calles.
El contratista continuará la excavación de una nueva infraestructura de drenaje en el lote vacante al norte de la Calle Seis entre la Avenida Stone y la Avenida Echols.
- Los automovilistas, ciclistas y peatones que viajen por la Calle Seis y/o la Avenida Stone en esta área deben estar atentos a los grandes camiones que entran y salen del sitio de trabajo.
El contratista también ha comenzado a trabajar para limpiar el material vegetal para la futura alineación de la calle y en la eliminación de las cercas, muros y concreto asfáltico existentes en varias áreas a lo largo de los límites del proyecto.
El público viajero verá grandes equipos y equipos de trabajo en los límites del proyecto. También habrá cierres programados de carreteras, tanto temporales como permanentes, dentro del proyecto.
Se prevé que el proyecto de construcción, de 30 meses de duración, se termine a principios de 2023.
El programa está sujeto a cambios debido a las inclemencias del tiempo o a circunstancias imprevistas.
