Santa Cruz County, AZ - The Santa Cruz County Community Development Department will transition to a new online permitting and complaint system on October 1, 2025. The County will move from the SmartGov platform to Cloudpermit, a user-friendly system that streamlines applications, improves efficiency, and enhances service for residents and builders.
With Cloudpermit, all residential and commercial building permits, as well as code complaints, will be submitted and managed online. The new system improves internal workflows and offers features that benefit homeowners, contractors, and staff.
Beginning October 1st, applicants can create an account directly through the County’s Community Development Department webpage, https://www.santacruzcountyaz.gov/159/Community-Development, and follow a step-by-step online process. The platform is designed to be more intuitive, helping reduce delays and making it easier to track application status.
A key feature of Cloudpermit is its mobile functionality. Building inspectors can conduct on-site inspections with real-time updates, automatically notifying homeowners and builders when inspection statuses change. This added efficiency helps keep projects moving forward.
Planning and zoning permits are not yet part of the online system and will continue to be processed via email at fperalta@santacruzcountyaz.gov. The County will announce future updates as additional permit types become available online.
For questions about the new permitting system, please email Permitting@santacruzcountyaz.gov.
