For decades, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum's water needs have been served by a single six-inch water line running beneath the westbound lane of Kinney Road.
In recent years, though, the aging water line has failed numerous times, resulting in road closures and disruptions to the local water supply. Now, the County is replacing the water line, a project that requires the temporary closure of a two-mile stretch of Kinney Road, expected to be completed by Thanksgiving weekend.
The project will put an end to the once-frequent emergency road closures in the area and provide a smoother ride for visitors to some of the County's most popular attractions.
Meet candidates to be next County Administrator

The candidates will be announced at the Oct. 13 Board of Supervisors meeting.

County Administrator Jan Lesher is retiring after 16 years with the County. In October 2021, the Board appointed her as acting County Administrator to replace the retiring Chuck Huckelberry. She was appointed to the position permanently in April 2022.
