When you visit us at either our main shelter (4000 N. Silverbell) or our eastside location (7225 E. Broadway), you’ll see workers dressed in Central Pet shirts. That group helps keep the kennels clean and assists with mealtimes for the pets every day.

We’ve generally got north of 400 dogs and dozens of cats in our care, all waiting for you to come and adopt.

That means lots of dishes.

And lots of laundry.

Every dog and cat needs to be fed daily. Kennels need to be cleaned daily. That means lots of hands involved with moving dogs so kennels can be addressed, cleaning bowls, and doing laundry for the next round. It also means feeding animals, changing litter boxes, and all the hard work that has to be done to keep the pets in a clean and environmentally safe space.

It’s not glamorous work – but it’s necessary, and we are eternally grateful to the CP staff members who are here and at EPAC, seven days a week, 365 days a year. 

Central Pet also runs our retail store in the main adoptions lobby.

Fifty percent of each transaction goes to Friends of PACC to support the shelter. The other half simply keeps the store operating. Central Pet is not walking away with huge profits – their aim is to help the animals in our care to find homes. And to send them home with some goodies to make the transition go smoothly.

When you’re at either of our locations, please greet the Central Pet workers you see, and thank them for what they do to keep PACC up and running. We couldn’t do what we do without them.
