Pima County pitches SoAZ to Taiwanese investors and startups

Pima County Economic Development joined Taiwan-based investors and startup founders at an event hosted by Sustainable Impact Capital (SIC) on July 27 at Arizona State University to share why Southern Arizona offers competitive advantages in advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and commercialization.

The event highlighted opportunities for Taiwanese startups to establish a U.S. presence while connecting with Arizona's growing innovation ecosystem. Earlier this year, SIC and the Arizona Commerce Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding to help establish Arizona as a gateway for Taiwanese startups entering the U.S. market.

Pima County leader joins 
Tech Parks Arizona’s governance board

Tech Parks Arizona is pleased to announce the appointment of Carmine DeBonis Jr., Deputy County Administrator for Pima County, to the board of directors that oversees the University of Arizona’s tech parks. 

Campus Research Corporation (CRC) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established to maintain, develop, operate, market and lease the parks to support the educational, research and land grant mission of the University of Arizona. The CRC board of directors supports Tech Parks Arizona’s leadership team in creating long-term sustainability and meaningful impact in the community, region and state.

JTED Foundation Transformation Summit to connect employers with Southern AZ’s future workforce

Southern Arizona employers looking for new ways to strengthen their talent pipelines are invited to the JTED Foundation’s Transformation Summit 2026, taking place September 1, 2026, at the Tucson Convention Center.

With the theme “Building a Strong Tomorrow, Today,” the summit will highlight how Career and Technical Education (CTE) can help employers connect with and recruit the next generation of skilled workers. Attendees will learn how businesses can coordinate with workforce and education strategies already underway across the region to build stronger, more sustainable talent pipelines.

Semicon West

SEMICON West names Arizona its long-term home

SEMI, the global industry association serving the semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing supply chain, today announced that Arizona will become the long-term home of SEMICON West, with a new annual spring schedule beginning March 30–April 1, 2027, at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.   

SEMICON West made a record-setting debut in Arizona last fall, with a 60% surge in registrations and nearly 50% more exhibitors, making it the most widely attended SEMICON West in nearly 20 years.

Paramium Technologies, an innovative startup building a global ground station network to streamline satellite communications, is graduating from the University of Arizona Center for Innovation (UACI), which serves as the science and technology startup incubator network of Tech Parks Arizona, and expanding into the UA Tech Park.
