An update from Steve Kozachik, PACC Director
Vol. 1, No. 50 - Dec. 1, 2025
Volunteers on a mission to educate
Early in the year we began our volunteer Parks Resource Team. That’s our volunteer group who has been going out into city parks and educating the public on leash laws, licensing, vaccinations and other resources PACC can offer. And handing out goodies such as leashes, collars, food, movie tickets and other treats for both people and their pets. The ‘people’ treats are for the people the team sees who have their animals leashed up.
Recently the team visited Fort Lowell Park. Our Parks Team is out early in the morning and most generally on weekends.

It’s a group committed to doing what they can to send the message that dogs running at large make parks a less safe place for everyone – whether you’re walking your own dog, or just enjoying the open space. And for people who are ‘doing it right,’ the parks team often has some extra goodies to pass along in thanks.
Reach out to me directly at steve.kozachik@pima.gov if you’d like to get signed up to be a Parks Unit member. We do a short training on how to read animal behavior and reinforce the message that we’re not out writing citations – we’re out sharing many of the great resources PACC has to offer – and ask you to leash up your pup.
And if you’re looking to add a furry family member before the holidays check out PACC's website where you can browse through the dogs and cats we have available. We’re open 7 days each week.
