Healthy Companions program offers inclusive care for pets and their owners

A dog arrived with the classic symptoms of valley fever. But when it was clear that the owner was experiencing similar symptoms, both were connected with evaluation and treatment. 

That’s what Healthy Companions, a Pima County program aimed at addressing healthcare barriers for unhoused and unstably housed populations and their pets, does.

October marked the two-year anniversary of the Pima County Health Department’s partnership with Pima Animal Care Center, El Rio Health, and the County’s Community & Workforce Development Department on the program, which provides preventive healthcare, wound care, STI screenings, family planning, and veterinary services at no cost.

Toy Drive

Finding a place to donate to the Pima County Toy Drive just got easier.

Anyone wishing to donate can now use the Toy Drive webpage to quickly locate convenient drop-off sites — whether near their worksite or close to home.

Now in its second year, the Pima County Toy Drive builds on a strong foundation, aiming to keep holiday donations local and ensure that children in need feel supported during the holiday season.

Share your thoughts on the future of regional transportation

County residents now have an easy way to weigh in on the proposed Regional Transportation Authority’s 20-Year Regional Transportation Plan — also known as RTA Next.

The Pima County Elections Department launched an online portal where you can submit written arguments for or against the plan. Those arguments will be published in the official publicity pamphlet that will be mailed to every voter household before the March 10, 2026, all-mail election.

Creating an inclusive space for all at the library

At the Caviglia-Arivaca Library, staff has worked hard to foster a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone. They have created programs tailored for teens and tweens, including craft programs, help with homework, and books targeted to their interests.
