In order for us to ensure we’re adopting out dogs into safe environments where they can thrive as family members, we put a lot of effort into not only learning from prior owners information about their pets' behavioral history, but we also introduce our pups to other dogs in PACC play groups. That serves as both a nice way for the animals to get out of the kennels and get some socializing, but also a great way for our behavior team to watch how they interact and enter notes into each dog’s kennel bio.
During each play group session, our staff is set up to watch, interact with and record observations on each dog that’s participating.
All of what is observed is available to you when you come out to adopt or foster a pet. That's the important information that will help inform the household and will result in the best long-term outcomes. We couple this observed information with what we know from the dog’s history (children in the home?, other animals in the home?, medical notes?, …) so when you’re considering adding a family member we can help with that matchmaking process.
Some of the dogs play in playgroup – others just chill.
All of it is recorded. We’ve got plenty of dogs and cats for you to select from. And good notes on them all. Check them out before heading out to PACC on our website. We’re open 7 days each week – and our adoptions team is looking forward to seeing you. So are the pups.
And please also take note of this: PACC is opening an east side adoptions center. My hoped-for goal is to open the doors mid-February, 2026. It’s construction though so that’s aspirational. There’s a lot of work to do, and we’re primed to get started. On Monday, November 17th we’re going to host a neighborhood meeting at what will be the new PACC East. The event will give you an opportunity to tour the building before we begin construction – see the before before you come out and see the after. The meeting will run from 5:30 until 7pm on the 17th. We’d love to show you what we’ve got planned.
