After a year away, bike-riding javelina statue returns to The Loop
Pima County’s most beloved javelina is back.
Unlike most javelinas, this one will never be seen nosing through the contents of a trash bin or scampering through a wash. Instead, this one sits astride a tandem bicycle, inviting passersby to join it for a ride.
It’s the subject of “Bicycle Built for Two,” a well-known local sculpture that made its official return to the Chuck Huckelberry Loop Oct. 15, after being removed for repairs. Previously located north of the Mountain Avenue Bridge, the sculpture now perches next to the path along a small spur that connects The Loop to Kolb Road.
Making a difference, one chunky 4-ounce cookie at a time — that was the dream that Alisha Brewer turned into reality in September 2024.
Combining her entrepreneurial spirit with her passion for animal welfare, she launched what quickly became a local success story — the delightfully named Bake a Difference Cookie Shop. Her combination of creativity, generosity, and community spirit led Pima County’s Small Business Commission to select Bake a Difference as the overall winner among 104 entries in its 2025 Small Business of the Year awards.
