Statement about typo on TUSD Prop. 414 ballot

PIMA COUNTY, Oct. 2, 2025 – On Oct. 8, Pima County will begin mailing ballots for the consolidated Tucson City Council election, the Tucson Unified School District budget override election, and the Flowing Wells and Sunnyside school districts bond elections.

TUSD voters may notice a typo in the Spanish version of the Proposition 414 ballot language. Presupuesto (budget) is misspelled in the Yes/Sí line of the proposition. It is spelled correctly in the No/No line immediately below. The typo does not change the meaning of the word, the intent of the proposition, or how a Yes/Sí vote will be counted. Voters will not be disenfranchised. Reprinting the ballots could possibly delay the start of the election for TUSD and City voters who reside in the district, and result in missed statutory deadlines.

Pima County Elections officials have been advised to mail the ballots as is after conferring with TUSD leadership, the County School Superintendent’s Office, the County Attorney’s Office, and the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office.

After discovering the error on Oct. 1, the County has corrected the typo on ballots to be issued in-person or sent electronically. Pima County and TUSD sincerely regret the oversight.
