Not long after celebrating its first anniversary, Pima County’s newest department is getting ready for another watershed moment: the creation of its own advisory board.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 Aug. 5, 2025, to approve the establishment of an official advisory board for Pima County Conservation Lands & Resources. The department’s goal is to appoint members during September and hold the first meeting in October.

Don’t miss the UArizona Alfie Norville Gem & Mineral Museum's 2nd annual End of Summer Celebration. Through Aug. 16, everyone gets in for $5 per person no matter what age. (Children 3 and under will still be free.)
The museum, located within the Pima County Historic Courthouse, 115 N. Church Ave., is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

PACC offers free spay/neuter, vaccines and microchips at Aug. 9 event
Attention pet owners! If your pet needs to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, or microchipped, Pima Animal Care Center’s mobile medical unit, Karen’s Karing Van, will be at Bullfrog Spas, 5919 E. Broadway Boulevard, to provide free services on Saturday, Aug. 9.
Vaccines provided will be FVRCP and rabies for cats and DHPP and rabies for dogs. Cats should be in carriers and dogs should be on leashes.
