Pima County is getting ready to celebrate Independence Day! This year, the County is offering a variety of ways to celebrate America's birthday. Depending on your preference, you could take a refreshing dip in a cool County pool, read to shelter dogs at Pima Animal Care Center, or sit back and enjoy an evening of baseball and fireworks at Kino Sports Complex.
Here are some events you should be sure to mark on your calendar this week!
Bruce D. Collins can still remember when he realized that public service was the right career for him.
When he was a college intern at an airport, Collins was assigned to work on several planning projects involving everything from operating the noise monitoring system to establishing an off-site permanent rental car facility. Seeing the results of his work struck a deep chord with him.
“Those projects were tangible,” he said. “When my friends or family were traveling, going to or around the airport, I could say that I worked on that project.”
That was the first step in a long journey that brought Collins to his new home at Pima County, where he was appointed director of the Procurement Department March 17.
