PACC to host wellness clinic, offer free vaccines and microchips

PIMA COUNTY, Dec. 4, 2024 – Pima Animal Care Center is holding a free pet vaccine and microchip clinic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

Gates will open at 8:30 a.m., and shelter staff will begin processing pets at 9 a.m. The clinic will run until 5 p.m. or until the first 400 pets have been served. This is a first-come, first-served event for Pima County residents only. Pet owners should plan to wait in line and bring water for themselves and their pets. Dogs must be on leashes. Cats need to be in carriers.

PACC hosted a similar clinic in June 2024, where they microchipped, vaccinated, and tagged 678 pets.

“We know that lack of access to affordable vet care is one of the greatest challenges pet owners are facing right now and one of the most common reasons pets are surrendered to the shelter,” said Monica Dangler, PACC’s director. “We’re looking forward to providing these services to the public again and helping ensure that more Pima County pets stay where they belong: with their families.”

Services that will be offered include:

  • Brief exam by licensed veterinarian
  • FVRCP vaccines for cats (Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)
  • DHPP vaccines for dogs (Canine Distemper, Parvo, Parainfluenza, Adenovirus)
  • Rabies vaccines for cats and dogs
  • Deworming for pets under six months old
  • Microchip implantation
  • Customized ID tag

PACC will be closed to the public for all other services on Dec. 11 to allow staff resources to be devoted to the clinic. Emergency services will be available via PACC’s dispatch line, 520-724-5900 ext. 4.
