Staff attend Border Congressional Hearing and Economic Development Roundtable

Pima County Economic Development staff joined regional partners in a Border Congressional Hearing and Economic Development Roundtable, hosted by Luis Ramirez of Ramirez Advisors International, on June 18.

The event was very successful, serving as both a cumulative update as well as identifying potential funding opportunities for economic development projects in Pima and other counties.

Vescovi-Chiordi takes on new role at AAED annual executive leadership retreat

AAED Board

Each year, the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) Leadership gathers to chart a course for AAED, the state’s largest membership-based Economic Development organization focusing on advocacy, education, and collaboration in economic development.

Pima County Economic Development Director Heath Vescovi-Chiordi attended this year’s event in Cottonwood June 26-28 as part of his role as 2023 Secretary/Treasurer for the organization.

Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center hosts workforce outreach summit

Workforce Summit

The Fred G. Acosta Job Corps Center Workforce Outreach Summit was held on June 26 to assess the need for career technical training based on industries and trades that are expanding. The summit also focused on increasing connections and collaborations between economic and workforce development partners.

Director Heath Vescovi-Chiordi attended on behalf of Pima County Economic Development and participated in a panel alongside regional partners to discuss collaboration successes and areas in need of improvement across Pima County. Other topics discussed at the summit were an overview of workforce needs, the state of the workforce pipeline, workforce partnerships and the future of workforce.

Local program provided lift to tech company

A startup that participated in the Pima County Economic Development-sponsored Crucible at FORGE is helping businesses improve their bottom line by eliminating underutilized software expenses and licenses.

Marro Technologies’ platform monitors and assesses software for medium and enterprise-level businesses, providing in-depth usage data by individual, department, region and more. In a typical business, the IT department manually gauges how often software is used and if the correct people are licensed to use it.
