A Coalition of Kindness
Catholic Community Services and other charitable agencies in 2014 began assisting people seeking asylum in the country by offering them shelter, food, and travel assistance.
Over the next decade, the number of people seeking asylum continued to grow and in 2019, the agencies turned to Pima County and the City of Tucson for assistance.
Since 2019 about 500,000 people have been helped by CCS and the coalition of kindness that developed with the County’s leadership.
The County’s Communications Office has produced a package of stories and videos to provide insight into how the coalition developed over the past five years and to highlight the daily heroic efforts of CCS and others to keep the asylum seekers and our community safe.
