ECAP campaign kickoff

ECAP campaign on track for successful 2023-24 season 

The annual Employees Care About Pima County campaign is in full swing. And, according to ECAP Chair Judy Cooper, the County is expected to raise more money than it did during the previous two campaigns. “The campaign effort benefits the citizens of Pima County,” Cooper said. “There are a lot of good, hard-working people in our community who can’t afford rent or utilities or food, and are grateful for the assistance they receive."

Classification & Compensation efforts continue

Human Resources’ Classification & Compensation team is continuing the process of reviewing updated job descriptions returned by departments and finalizing batches for final approval. Over the coming weeks, the first 600+ job descriptions should be approved and published, mostly for positions that are new to the County.

New department will combine County's sustainability, natural resources programs

Pima County is preparing to establish a new Conservation Lands & Resources Department, with the goal of streamlining its conservation and sustainability programs and more effectively implementing the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan.

Each issue, eScoop would like to give a shout-out to employees and departments who have earned special recognition. We want to hear about colleagues who have earned praise on the job as well as those honored for their work or volunteerism outside the office. In this issue, we're sending kudos to the departments involved in a project to improve the Chuck Huckelberry Loop, the person who recruits Pima Animal Care Center's staff and the manager of a Behavioral Health program who won a regional award.

Skate for free at the TCC

Employees can skate for free at the city of Tucson's skate days

Pima County is again partnering with the City of Tucson to offer free lunch hour ice skating to employees Dec. 14 and 21. The rink is in front of the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Church Ave. Skating is open from noon to 1:30 p.m. both days and is limited to County employees. Skaters should bring a good pair of socks, gloves and their signed waiver form.

Dec. 10 is deadline for Gems nominations

Know an employee who excels at customer service? Do they embody the characteristics of being accountable, respectful and ethical? Dec. 10 is the last day to nominate employees for individual recognition as part of the quarterly We A.R.E. Gems Employee Recognition Program. As a reminder, only supervisors may nominate employees, and nomination forms must be approved and signed by the department director or appointing authority.
