 American Battery Factory breaks ground on giant facility in Pima County
American Battery Factory, an emerging battery manufacturer leading the development of the first network of lithium iron phosphate battery cell gigafactories in the United States, broke ground this week on a 2 million-square-foot facility in Pima County. Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs joined Board of Supervisors Chair Adelita Grijalva; ABF’s CEO Jim Ge and President John Kem; and a host of other dignitaries at an Oct. 26 groundbreaking ceremony focused on the region and state’s clean-energy future.
5-year study offers useful lessons about road repairs in Pima County
Five years ago, the Pima County Department of Transportation decided to test various pavement treatments to see which worked best. The study was launched concurrently with DOT’s Road Pavement Repair and Preservation Program, which aims to repair and preserve all currently failed and poor roads by the end of the decade. Those plans fell through, prompting her to take a step back and reassess her career goals. While researching programs at Pima Community College, one in particular caught her eye: the school’s Aviation Technology Program. And with the help of Pima County’s One-Stop, she was able to get her tuition and exam fees covered.
