Risk Factor Study on way to earning national recognition

Our Consumer Health and Food Safety Division is in the process of earning national recognition from the FDA for progress toward completing Pima County’s first Risk Factor Study (RFS). CHFS has been conducting the RFS by going to a sample of different facility types and looking at foodborne illness risk factors—items identified by the CDC as directly contributing to foodborne illness.

When starting your food business and the permitting process with Consumer Health and Food Safety, the Food Code states that evidence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) must be provided in the plan review process. Having SOPs specific to food safety ensures that all employees will follow step-by-step instructions to meet the food safety standards as outlined in the Food Code.

Consumer Health and Food Safety's Community Forum titled "Back to Basics: Active Managerial Control" is set for Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m.
