Supervisors recognize Distinguished Recipients in Employee Recognition Program
Ten County employees were honored at the Oct. 17 Board of Supervisors meeting as Distinguished Recipients in the County’s Employee Recognition Program. Honorees were nominated by supervisors/managers and their appointed authority, then a committee of fellow employees rated them on how well they exemplified the County values of being accountable, respectful and ethical. They also were ranked on their customer service skills.
Deputy county administrator gives update on wide-ranging Pima1 project
Deputy County Administrator Steve Holmes, filling in for County Administrator Jan Lesher in this month's video address to employees, provides an update on Pima1, the project that will update and improve the County's financial systems. Pima1, also known as the Enterprise Resource Planning project, will affect every County employee in one way or another.

It’s that time of year when Pima County sees an uptick in COVID and flulike illnesses. As a result, many questions have arisen for guidance regarding requirements of COVID reporting for employees. Important reminder: Please fill out Travel Reduction Survey today
As of Oct. 16, Pima County had received only 835 survey responses in the Employee Travel Reduction Survey. The County needs thousands more. This mandatory survey is for all County employees, no matter what modes of travel are used for work commutes. Pima County's Department of Environmental Quality asks that you take two to three minutes to complete the survey today. In the process, you'll have a chance to win prizes and influence regional transportation decisions. You can go directly to the survey website and enter the password "PIMDO."

Nightfall at Old Tucson offering scary-good deal for County employees
Old Tucson is offering a wicked discount for Pima County employees to attend the annual Halloween-themed Nightfall event. County employees who show their company ID or badge at the front gate are eligible for an $8 discount on every ticket they purchase. Nightfall runs Thursdays to Sundays through Oct. 29. Gates are open from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Ticket prices vary per night. So, gather up all your goblins and get ready for some creepy thrills.

Native American Heritage Month celebration set for Historic Courthouse on Nov. 15
Human Resources' Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Program will host an event Nov. 15 in honor of Native American Heritage Month at 5 p.m. at the Pima County Historic Courthouse. All employees and their families are welcome.
On this occasion, the DEI Program would like to honor and highlight the diversity of the Native American community in the County workforce. Therefore, employees of Native American heritage are invited to let HR staff know which tribe(s) are represented within our County. The tribe(s) may be inside or outside the state of Arizona and the tribes will be recognized during the event. Participation is voluntary and tribe names can be sent to HRDiversity@pima.gov.

Sweetwater Preserve Trailhead renamed in honor of late County employee
Pima County’s Natural Resources Parks and Recreation Department will rename the Sweetwater Preserve Trailhead in honor of longtime NRPR employee Steve Anderson at a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the trailhead, 4001 N. Tortolita Road. Anderson, who passed away unexpectedly in November 2022, worked for the county for 28 years and played an integral part in planning or building more than 2,200 miles of trails around the County.

Some departments really know how to put 'fun' into fundraising for ECAP
A chili cook-off. A costume contest. A pumpkin-painting competition. What is your department doing for ECAP? We are in the midst of the annual Employees Care About Pima County campaign, and the giving goal this year is $300,000. Last year, employees donated more than $265,000 to 238 organizations. Let’s hit that goal. Let’s get creative. Make it a team effort. Make it fun. Go crazy.

Don’t trust flash drives of unknown origin; they can cause much damage
Removable media, such a CDs, DVDs and USB drives (also called flash drives or thumb drives), aren't necessarily dangerous. However, the files on them can be. As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Pima County’s Information Technology Department wants to remind employees that it is very easy to unknowingly take a virus-infected file and upload it to your computer via a thumb drive or other type of removable media. On many computers, simply inserting the media in your computer is enough to deliver the payload from a bad actor.

Try new, improved carpool-matching app for Pima County employees
The GoEzy carpool-matching app has undergone some recent updates to make it easier for employees interested in carpooling to get matched with others who’d like to do the same. Metropia is tossing in some extra rewards for scheduling carpools and monthly, random prize drawings for those taking carpool trips now through December are also in the works.
