15 local animal shelters and rescues hosting countywide adoption event

PIMA COUNTY, Sept. 15, 2023 – Pima Animal Care Center is teaming up with 14 local shelters and rescues to hold a countywide adoption event at different locations across Tucson on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The end of summer tends to be a busy time for animal shelters and rescues, who face increased intakes and lower adoption and foster rates in the summer months. PACC’s Director of Animal Services, Monica Dangler, said that PACC is hosting this event in hopes of bringing more attention to the several organizations doing great work for animals across Pima County.

“All of the shelters and rescues participating are working toward a common goal of saving more animals,” said Dangler. “We’re honored to partner with all of these organizations in hopes of finding homes for hundreds of adoptable pets across Pima County.”

People who want to help but cannot adopt or foster pets can make donations to the participating locations via their websites or in person. Financial donations are most needed, but area shelters and rescues could also use pet food, toys, treats, blankets, towels, and other pet care items.

At PACC, all pets will be free to adopt. A $20 licensing fee may apply to adult dogs. All pets adopted from PACC come up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Adoption fees and policies for the other participating shelters and rescues will be determined by those organizations.
