PACC Halloween event offers ‘Spell-tacular’ chance to find your new best friend

PIMA COUNTY, Oct. 25, 2022 - A scavenger hunt, trick-or-treating and, of course, adoptable pets, are all on tap at Pima Animal Care Center’s “Halloween Spell-tacular” adoption event Oct. 30, noon-4 p.m. at the shelter, 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

A scavenger hunt will lead families throughout the facility and help them to learn more about shelter programs and adoptable animals. PACC will be decorated with family-friendly Halloween décor and will offer entertainment including games, music, and even a doggy play session sure to wow visitors. Multiple food trucks will be on hand selling refreshments. In addition, local Cumulus stations 97.5 The Vibe, KiiM FM, and KHIT 107.5 will be at the event hosting giveaways.

PACC staff have planned this event in hopes of bringing the public to PACC and finding homes for adoptable animals.

Monica Dangler, Director of Animal Services, said that this event is coming at a critical time for PACC. The shelter is currently facing a capacity crisis with more than 510 dogs in the facility.

Partygoers will meet hundreds of adoptable dogs and cats looking for homes. All adoption fees are currently waived. A $20 licensing fee does apply for adult dogs. PACC adoptions staff will be ready to meet potential adopters and help them find the best fit for their families.

”The Halloween Spell-tacular is an excellent opportunity for the community to help PACC animals and learn more about our operations, mission and our wonderful animals,” said Dangler. “We are asking the public to come out, have a good time, and help us find homes for some great pets.”

People who can’t attend the event or adopt can always make a financial donation to the shelter’s official nonprofit partner, Friends of Pima Animal Care Center.

PACC is open on weekdays from noon to 7 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All pets are currently free to adopt, and reclaim fees are waived in most instances. To learn more about PACC pets and services, please go to www.pima.gov/animalcare.
