Cold cases get fresh look
from Medical Examiner’s Office

She was found in 1988 partially buried in the desert in Pinal County. In fact, Dr. Bruce Anderson, a forensic anthropologist with the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office, and a colleague were the ones who dug up those remains for examination.

However, that 34-year-old “Jane Doe” case remains unsolved.

Don’t chuck those COVID test kits

All at-home COVID test kits have “expiration dates,” but, for some, that date has been extended beyond the date printed on the box.

That’s because the FDA has reviewed shelf-life data from test manufacturers. In many cases, the data showed that the test kits continue to work as expected for longer than the original printed dates indicated.

Kids do their part for clean air during Walk-N-Roll to School Week

The calendar has flipped to October and the first hints of fall weather are in the air, marking the perfect opportunity to accompany the kids to school by bike, foot or scooter.

The Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) Clean Air Program and the Pima County Health Department REACH program are teaming up with area schools to celebrate Walk-N-Roll to School Week Oct. 3-7.

PACC joins animal-welfare organizations across nation to ask public for help

Pima Animal Care Center is joining dozens of animal-welfare organizations across the country in asking for the public’s help in a new Share the Care campaign.

Shelters and rescues continue to see more animals entering than leaving, amassing a backlog of adoptable animals and creating a crisis that stresses the animals, taxes PACC resources and exhausts staff and volunteers.
