Free pet clinics offered in Ajo Aug. 25-26

PIMA COUNTY, Aug. 18, 2022 – Pima Animal Care Center is holding two free medical clinics Aug. 25-26 at the Ajo Church of God, 1900 N. 2nd Avenue, in Ajo.

The Aug. 25 clinic will offer free spay and neuter services; on Aug. 26, free vaccines and microchips will be featured. This will be a first-come, first served event for Ajo residents. ASAVET Charities will help facilitate the clinics.

This kind of preventative veterinary care plays a crucial role in keeping pets healthy, preventing animals from ending up in the shelter, and keeping the public safe, said Monica Dangler, Director of Animal Services.

“Ensuring that pets are fixed and vaccinated is one of the most important things people can do to make sure that their pet stays happy and healthy,” Dangler said. “We are proud to be able to help Ajo pet owners get access to the resources they need to keep their pets safe.”

Dogs will need to be on leashes. Cats will need to be in carriers. Pet owners should plan to wait in line. Pet owners can drop off pets at 8 a.m. on Aug. 25, for the following services, which will be offered to the first 35 cats and dogs only:

  • Brief exam by licensed veterinarian
  • Spay or neuter surgery and appropriate vaccinations and/or microchips

Services offered on Aug. 26, from 8 to 11 a.m., include:

  • FVRCP vaccines for cats (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)
  • DHPP vaccines for dogs (Distemper, parvovirus, parainfluenza, and hepatitis/adenovirus)
  • Rabies vaccines for cats and dogs
  • Deworming for pets under six months old
  • Microchip implantation
  • Other wellness services offered at cost to owner

Two more pet clinics for Ajo residents will be offered Nov. 17-18.
