It takes a multitude to conduct County elections

The County Recorder and the Elections Department are putting the last few ballots through the counting machines this week and the Board of Supervisors will vote on the 2022 Primary Election Canvass at its meeting Aug. 15. I want to thank the more than 4,000 poll workers who are essential for the Recorder and Elections Department to conduct each countywide election. We couldn’t do it without them. The County used new technology for this election and the poll workers did a fabulous job adjusting to the new voter check-in procedure.

Regional Flood Control District protects lives and property

Since its creation in 1978, the Regional Flood Control District has built and maintained nearly a half-billion dollars in flood control infrastructure in the County. This year, Flood Control will spend $20 million on nearly two dozen projects across the County. Floods used to plague the metro area every few years, but despite having record amounts of rain last summer, there was little flood damage thanks to the good people at RFCD.

New Economic Development Office leadership brings great ideas, new focus to County ED effort

Earlier this past winter Heath Vescovi-Chiordi joined the County as our new Economic Development Office Director and he hired Kelle Maslyn away from Arizona State University to join him, forming a talented and visionary team with EDO Deputy Director Patrick Cavanaugh. They’ve started work on revamping and streamlining the County Economic Development Plan. The Green Valley News recently profiled Heath and Kelle. You can read the story at the link.
