The heat is on: County offers resources as temperatures climb

This week’s soaring temperatures come with a dramatic increase in the risk of heat-related illness and death. It’s why Pima County has compiled tips and resources to beat the heat and, if necessary, find cooling centers that offer relief during the hottest part of the day.

You can still register to vote in the 2022 Primary Election. The deadline to register is July 5.

Learn how to register and get all your voting information at pima.gov/vote2022. It contains all the information you need for Early Voting and Election Day voting for local, state and federal primary and general elections.

Help PACC prepare
for July 4 weekend

Pima Animal Care Center is expecting to be very busy over the July 4 weekend and the week following. With the holiday falling on a Monday — creating a long weekend full of fireworks — PACC is expecting to see a few hundred lost pets coming into the shelter the following week.

PACC needs help from the public to have space for incoming lost pets. In a typical week. PACC takes in about 200 “stray” pets. PACC takes in almost twice that during the week following the Fourth of July.

New national hotline serves new moms

Becoming a parent can be exciting, but stressful as well. A new national hotline for maternal mental health support is here to help.

The HELP4MOMS hotline (833-9-HELP4MOMS or 833-943-5746) is now live. Launched by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the hotline is one of an  increasing number of resources available to parents of new babies. Best of all it’s free, available 24/7 and offers confidential services in English and Spanish.

At long last, Vail has its own library! The W. Anne Gibson-Esmond Station Library, 10931 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way, is fully open for in-person services.

Featuring plenty of meeting space, computers, books and gorgeous views of the desert, the library is ready to serve the booming community of Vail and eastern Pima County.
