SAHUARITA ROAD AND WILMOT ROAD

INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

Pima County, Ariz. (July 30) – The Pima County Department of Transportation, and The Regional Transportation Authority along with its contractor, Falcone Brothers & Associates, Inc., will begin the roadway improvements project at the intersection of Sahuarita Road and Wilmot Road.

Project Activity

Starting Monday, August 2, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, the contractor will begin clearing and grubbing vegetation, potholing for utilities, placing caution barriers and mobilizing their equipment to the project site.

Project Scope

Improvements will include a new traffic signal with lighting, roadway widening for turn lanes and drainage channel infrastructure at the intersection. The project is expected to be completed spring of 2022.

Please approach the area with caution and obey all traffic control devices. Traffic control changes and speed reductions will occur as work progresses.

The Pima County Transportation Department oversees the design, reconstruction, maintenance and operations of nearly 2,200 miles of roadways and infrastructure throughout unincorporated Pima County. This includes hundreds of bridges and drainage structures, street lights, traffic signs, traffic signals, bicycle facilities and public art throughout the County’s transportation system.

The Regional Transportation Authority is a state-established political subdivision within Pima County that collects a half-cent excise tax from the RTAs special taxing district. The tax funds the RTAs 20-year regional transportation plan, which voters in the district approved in May 2006 along with the excise tax. To date, the RTA has invested over $1 billion in the region to deliver transportation projects and services that improve our region’s mobility, safety, economic vitality and quality of life.
