Talks, film part of National Public Health Week celebration

In the midst of the most challenging public health crisis of our lifetimes, it is more important than ever to celebrate public health. To mark National Public Health Week, April 5-11, Pima County administrators take the opportunity to thank all public health workers, particularly those at the Pima County Health Department, for the work they’ve done during the pandemic and year-round.

The Health Department also is planning a host of activities to recognize the contributions of public health and highlight issues that are important to improving our nation's health.

All employees eligible to be vaccinated

Pima County is aggressively working to get every employee vaccinated. Starting March 25, every employee became eligible for vaccination under the new eligibility guidelines adopted by the Health Department. 

County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry is urging all employees to go to www.pima.gov/covid19vaccine and register to get vaccinated.

COVID-19 prevention policies will still be enforced at County parks, buildings, facilities and properties

The Pima County Attorney’s Office, in a March 26 letter to County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry, says Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey does not have to legal authority to prevent the County Health Department from enacting reasonable public health measures.

Therefore, according to Deputy County Attorney Jonathan Pinkney, Resolution 2020-96 passed by the Board of Supervisors Dec. 4, is still in effect. The Resolution mandates everyone in Pima County over the age of 5 must wear a face mask over their nose and mouth, unless they have a qualifying exemption or are able to maintain physical distance.

Using Edge will improve security as Microsoft continues to end support for services within Internet Explorer.

Take part in DEQ’s Clean Air Challenge

Hey, Pima County, are you ready for the Department of Environmental Quality’s ThisIsCleanAir Challenge?

If you’re up for the challenge, just provide some photos or poetry (in Celebration of National Poetry Month) about air quality awareness.

Participants also should indicate in the entry form how many vehicle miles they avoid driving in a typical week by telecommuting, taking transit, biking, walking, carpooling, or skipping trips. This data will help determine how many tons of pollution are avoided when citizens drive less.

Libraries welcoming patrons back inside

It's been a little more than one year of COVID-19 related restrictions, and Pima County Public Library is pivoting once again to better meet the needs of our valued customers and community.

Beginning April 5-6, customers will be allowed in libraries with masks for limited services. Several health and safety precautions will still be in effect.
