Vaccinations

Getting vaccinated benefits you and community

County employees have additional incentive to get vaccinated against COVID-19, thanks to a plan approved by County administration.

We know getting a vaccine appointment can be challenging, so the County Administrator has tasked Lisa Royal with facilitating getting eligible employees appointments. Royal has been assisting employees age 55 and over the past week and is now assisting employees who meet the Frontline Essential Worker criteria, which includes some government employees.

Vaccination sites could use your help

Employees are invited to volunteer at one of the COVID-19 vaccination sites. Exempt employees can work out scheduling with their supervisor if they choose to volunteer during work hours. Non-exempt employees are encouraged to volunteer outside of normal work hours.

Potential tasks include assisting in screening for eligibility, registration, traffic control and running supplies. Roles may vary depending the site’s needs for the day.

Mike Flores

Employees at shooting range taking aim at cancer

Flores had a feeling about that pink target but no inkling of the reaction he'd get from the dozens of shooters who patronize the range.

Good thing for him, and cancer patients and survivors, that his hunch paid off.

Well Done! Clean ups, counting and more

Each issue, eScoop would like to give a shout-out to employees and departments who have earned special recognition. We want to hear about colleagues who have earned kudos on the job as well as those being recognized for their work or volunteerism outside the office.

Send your ideas on employees who should receive a pat on the back to the eScoop editor. In this issue, you’ll hear about Wastewater employees leading a clean-up of the Santa Cruz River, gold star recognition for the Housing Center, a special write-up on a pilot program of the Health Department and an honor for a PACC employee who knows what it’s like to live a dog’s life.
