 Shopping, stargazing and live music on tap at Historic Canoa Ranch beginning Oct. 24
PIMA COUNTY, Oct. 22, 2019 - Three upcoming events at Pima County’s Historic Canoa Ranch will get your eyes popping, your toes tapping and your shopping jump started.
What: Canoa Country Market
Where: Historic Canoa Ranch, 5375 I-19 Frontage Rd, Green Valley
When: Thursday, Oct. 24, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and every Thursday through April 16, 2020.
Description: Artisans, vendors, food trucks, local produce and more.
Cost: Free. Vendor fee is $25 for a 12 x 12 space. All vendor fees benefit the restoration of the Tradesman House for a new Visitor Center and Gift Shop

What: Stargazing
Where: Historic Canoa Ranch, 5375 I-19 Frontage Rd, Green Valley
When: Friday, Oct. 25, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Description: The Sonora Astronomical Society volunteers set up telescopes for celestial viewing and provide an introduction to the night sky. Come before dark for a presentation by Whipple Observatory. Bring your flashlight and lawn chair. Weather permitting. All ages welcome. Reservations not required. Presentation from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Stargazing 6:30-8:30 p.m. The presenter is Amy C. Oliver, the Visitor & Science Center manager for the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory and a public affairs officer for the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. Oliver also serves as a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, OSIRIS-REx Ambassador for LPL, and is a senior instructional specialist at the University of Arizona's Mt. Lemmon Sky Center. She is known online as the Nerdy Astronomer.
Cost: $5 suggested donation.

What: Outdoor Concert with the Green Valley Concert Band
Where: Historic Canoa Ranch, 5375 I-19 Frontage Rd, Green Valley
When: Sunday, Oct. 27, 5 p.m.
Description: Enjoy the musical sounds of the Green Valley Concert Band as they pay tribute to American composers. Their selections will feature the band’s very own sections of tubas, trumpets and trombones. Bring a folding chair. Snacks, drinks and ice cream for sale.
Cost: $10/person with funds benefiting the restoration of the Tradesman House for a new Visitor Center and Gift Shop
