Support the 20th Annual Hydration Donation Campaign: Every Bottle Counts!
 When temperatures soar across Arizona, something as simple as a bottle of water can provide critical relief and help keep our community safe. By supporting the 20th Annual Hydration Donation Campaign, you can help provide essential hydration to individuals and families during the hottest months of the year.
Running through September 30, 2026, this community-wide effort collects bottled water through partnerships with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community members. Donations are distributed by United Food Bank to agencies throughout the Valley, including A New Leaf, Paz de Cristo, and Mesa United Way.
Since the campaign began in 2007, the Mesa community has donated more than 7.6 million bottles of water, helping neighbors stay safe and hydrated during extreme heat. Every contribution matters—just $5 can provide a case of water to someone in need.

(Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods) -a special evening of citywide block parties dedicated to neighborhood connection, pride, and public safety.
As our nation commemorates America’s 250th anniversary, this year’s G.A.I.N. Night is a powerful opportunity to honor the ideals that have united us for generations. By gathering together, serving one another, and investing in our blocks, we strengthen the local connections that make Mesa vibrant.

Become a Mesa Tree Steward!
Register for the 5th and FINAL Mesa Tree Stewards cohort and gain the knowledge and hands-on skills to help grow a healthier, cooler, and greener community. This FREE program includes urban forestry training and hands-on experience with soil health, tree planting, pruning, and irrigation, plus a signed certificate of completion.
Training sessions will be held October 3 and October 17, followed by a planting and graduation event on December 5. Don’t miss your final opportunity to become a Mesa Tree Steward!

Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere. Being prepared can help keep you and your family safe.
Here are some tips for handling electric and natural gas emergencies:
Electric Emergency:
- Stay away from downed power lines and anything touching them.
- If a power line falls on your vehicle, stay inside and call 9-1-1.
- Report outages or hazards to your electric service provider:

Natural Gas Emergency:
- Know the signs of a gas leak:
- Smell a rotten egg odor
- Hear a hissing or unusual sound coming from a pipeline or appliance
- See blowing dirt or bubbling water If you notice any of these signs, leave the area immediately, call 9-1-1 and your gas provider:

During September, stop by to see the Water – Use It Wisely Water Tower – a 16-foot display of 120 one-gallon jugs illustrating the average amount of water each person uses every day.
It's an eye-opening reminder that even small changes can make a big difference. While you're there, pick up a FREE copy of the newly updated Landscape Watering by the Numbers: A Guide for the Arizona Desert.
Then join us for a free workshop, “Take the Guesswork Out of Landscape Watering” on Sept. 26 from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Mesa Main Library, Saguaro Room.
