Keep your home cool
- Make sure your air conditioning unit is working properly before temperatures rise.
- Check your A/C system and replace filters regularly to help keep your home safe and comfortable.
- Remember, indoor temperatures can rise quickly without working air conditioning.
Know the warning signs of heat illness
- Watch for symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, muscle cramps, and fatigue.
- Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can become serious quickly. Stay hydrated, take breaks from the heat, and seek a cooler location when needed.

Support the 20th Annual Hydration Donation Campaign: Every Bottle Counts!
 When temperatures soar across Arizona, something as simple as a bottle of water can provide critical relief and help keep our community safe. By supporting the 20th Annual Hydration Donation Campaign, you can help provide essential hydration to individuals and families during the hottest months of the year.
Running through September 30, 2026, this community-wide effort collects bottled water through partnerships with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community members. Donations are distributed by United Food Bank to agencies throughout the Valley, including A New Leaf, Paz de Cristo, and Mesa United Way.
Since the campaign began in 2007, the Mesa community has donated more than 7.6 million bottles of water, helping neighbors stay safe and hydrated during extreme heat. Every contribution matters—just $5 can provide a case of water to someone in need.

Hit Your Target with MYCAF
Calling all youth ages 15-24! Take your environmental idea from concept to completion and make a difference in our community. Teams of two or more can apply for up to $5,000 from the Mesa Youth Climate Action Fund (MYCAF), thanks to funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Don’t miss your opportunity to help create a more resilient Mesa, one youth-led project at a time. Applications will be accepted August 3 through September 14. Learn more about this award-winning program at mesaaz.gov/MYCAF.
Register Now for Parks and Recreation Fall Programs
 While the summer heat is still here, fall activities are just around the corner! Registration is now open for Mesa residents for Mesa Parks & Recreation's Fall 2026 season, featuring a wide variety of programs for all ages and abilities.
From youth and adult sports to adaptive recreation, fitness classes, arts, and special interest programs, there's something for everyone. Families can also enjoy popular community events like Celebrate Mesa, Pumpkin Splash, and Skate Party at the Plaza this fall.
Looking for free activities? Check out Mesa's mobile recreation programs, including M.O.R.E. (Mesa Outdoor Recreation Experience) and Fun 'N Fitness, offering outdoor adventures, games, crafts, sports, and STEAM activities throughout the community.

Mark your calendars for National 8/11 Day!
Every August 11 (8/11), we celebrate National 811 Day to remind everyone to call 8-1-1 before digging.
Whether it’s gas, electric, water, sewer, or other utilities, calling is free and helps prevent injuries, service outages, and costly repairs—utility lines can be just inches below the surface. Dig safely and protect your community!
Contact Arizona811 at least two business days before digging to have underground utility lines located and marked. It’s free, easy, and required by law.
 Did you know that you can get $100 if you live in the Mesa Electric Service Area and have a compatible thermostat? All you need to do is join the Mesa Smart Peaks Program!
By agreeing to have your thermostat turned up a few degrees when electricity demand is highest and most costly, you'll not only score $100 ($50 upon enrollment and $50 after the summer season), but you’ll also help keep down costs and stabilize the grid. You’ll also get an additional $50 every year for continued participation!
