Thank you for making Art in the Park a success!
Art in the Park was an incredible experience that we'll remember for years to come. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the neighbors, volunteers, artists, staff, and elected officials who made it all possible. The event drew in over 2,000 attendees and saw the creation of over 400 tiles for the community-based art piece by the artist Beth Nybeck. Additionally, we were thrilled to have six amazing local bands and four original comedy shows by the East Valley Children's Theater. We'll be sharing more stories and updates about the art piece as soon as we continue to collect memories from the event.
It’s Earth Month, and it's time to celebrate nature!
Even in our desert climate, April is the time when many plants burst into bloom or leaf out with fresh, bright-green leaves. Earth Day (April 22nd,) reminds us of the many ways we can protect our planet and make a lasting and positive impact. Visit our Earth Day webpage to find over 50 easy-to-implement ideas and actions you can take. Don’t miss our “Living Green Village” at Celebrate Mesa taking place at Pioneer Park on April 13.

Arbor Day (April 26th) falls on the last Friday of April and is a day to celebrate trees and the vital role they play in our community. Planting trees is a fun and rewarding way to positively impact the environment. Additionally, every tree you plant contributes to Mesa's “Trees Are Cool” initiative, the ambitious goal of planting one million trees by 2050. Please help us achieve this milestone by recording your newly planted tree on our community tree map.

April is the perfect time to tackle your outdoor projects. Remember to notify Arizona 811 at least two full working days before you start digging to have underground utility lines located and marked. The depths of utility lines vary, and multiple lines may exist in the same area. This simple step can help prevent injuries, property damage, and service outages.

Time to maintain and trim your trees
From June to September, dry heat, heavy rain, and monsoon season kick in every year. Taking the appropriate steps to protect your plants and trees during the monsoon season can help prevent damage to your property caused by heavy winds. Maintain and trim your trees now to:
- Stake your younger trees so that they are secure
- Get rid of broken or weak branches that can fall or bring other branches down
- Keep trees and branches clear of your windows and roof
Overgrown branches near power lines are a safety hazard. If you need to trim your trees, don't do it yourself. Take a moment to learn about the safety considerations for the task . Consult a professional arborist or call SRP at 602-236-8366 or City of Mesa at 480-644-4444 to discuss your options and get advice from your energy provider.
Remember to remove dead trees and call Transportation (480-644-2160) to report trees blocking roadways and sidewalks. Use the Recycle Right Wizard to learn about your options for disposing of branches or trees.
