 PET SUMMER SAFETY
Leave your animals at home. Never leave your pet in a car during the summer. Temperatures inside a car increase by 20 degrees in 10 minutes, even with cracked windows. Call 911 if you see an animal locked in a vehicle.
Better inside.Your pet needs constant access to water and shade. Shady spots offer little protection from the heat and move with the sun. It's better to keep them inside an air-conditioned space if you can.
Find a summer walk schedule. If it's too hot to stand barefoot for five seconds on the path, it's too hot to walk your dog. Paws burn easily on hot surfaces. Don't risk it; walk them later!

Don’t Let Your Toilet Cost You Money!
You’ve seen the water ripple in the bowl, you’ve heard your toilet refill when no one flushed, and you’ve jiggled the handle to get the water to stop running. Even a small toilet leak can waste 10,000 gallons of water a year. To ensure that you’re not flushing your hard-earned money (and wasted water) down the drain, it’s a good idea to periodically check your toilets for leaks. Here’s an easy method:
- Remove the tank lid
- Add a few drops of food coloring to the tank
- Wait 10-15 minutes and do not flush the toilet
If dye seeps into your toilet bowl, you have a leak. The cause is often a leaky flapper. Watch our DIY plumbing video for easy instructions on how to replace it.

This residential utility assistance program offers a 30% discount on the Water Service Rate, one of the water rate components on a customer’s bill. For example, on a 3/4" water service (most common size for residences), the discount reduces the fixed, monthly charge from $29.23 per month to $20.46 per month. This is an $8.77 savings per month! This program does not change any other water rate component.
This program is for permanent, full-time residents at the service address who are 60 years of age or older. Review other qualification criteria before applying.
