Thank you to the neighbors who attended our last class of 2022. We talked about how residents can participate in City Council Meetings and how to apply to be part of the City Advisory Boards. Thank you to our special guests, Agnes Goodwine, Deputy City Clerk, and Bingles, the Gnome on the Roam.
Visit our Classes, Events and Resources page to see the class schedule for Spring 2023 and register.
 Holiday Pet Safety Tips
Decorate with your pets in mind. Don't put ornaments or tinsel/garland on the bottom branches. In addition to being a choking and intestinal blockage hazard, shards from broken ornaments may injure paws, mouths, or other parts of the body. Watch out for snow globes! They contain ethylene glycol, which is an ingredient in antifreeze. A broken snow globe can cause two hazards, the water containing ethylene glycol and the broken glass. Follow us on Facebook for more safety tips from Mesa Animal Control. The information is also available in Spanish.
Support programs for the safety and well-being of Mesa animals including programs like spay/neuter efforts for feral cats, and microchipping events so pets can safely return to their owners: https://mesaaz.givingfuel.com/animal-welfare

Make Sustainability a Part of This Year’s Holidays
This year, when choosing gifts for your family and friends, why not keep the earth in mind? So much of what we purchase eventually ends up in the landfill. Instead of stuff, give the gift of time or experiences.
Offer to babysit or clean someone’s home, or purchase tickets to a museum, concert, or indoor rock gym. Consumables are also a great option – think chocolates, coffee, local foods, fruit baskets, or gift cards for restaurants. Here are a few of our favorite Mesa-specific gift ideas:
This holiday season, create memories, not clutter. To learn more about green living, visit mesaaz.gov/sustainability.
