Colleagues—
Protecting the safety of every Maricopa County employee is one of the highest priorities for County leadership. Your well-being is not only our responsibility; it is a commitment we take seriously and act on every day.
Over the past year, we have implemented several important measures to strengthen workplace safety and enhance situational awareness across our facilities. Some of these measures include:
- Expanding security screenings at key County buildings
- Installing additional physical barriers to better secure workspaces
- Increasing the number of Security Services patrols
These steps are designed to reduce risk, increase our readiness, and ensure a safer working environment for all staff.
You also play a vital role in this effort. One of the most important things you can do is ensure your contact information in Workday is up-to-date. In the event of a critical incident such as a gas leak, water main break, or active threat, timely and accurate communication is essential. Having current contact information allows us to provide you with clear instructions and real-time updates about your safety, including whether it is safe to enter or return to a building or area.
To support this, the Department of Emergency Management and Security Services Division is launching a new Workday training course that will guide you step-by-step through updating your contact information through Workday. Keep an eye out for a notification about the course soon. Basic instructions are posted below if you want to make updates now.
It is my strong desire to have all employees update their contact information no later than July 31, 2025.
Safety is a shared responsibility. If you see something concerning, say something by contacting Security Services immediately at 602-506-3700.
Thank you for staying aware, engaged, and helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
Take care,
Jen
